Dead Horse Jive – Should’ve Stayed In

If the festival circuit are looking for an act – then Galway band Dead Horse Jive should be penciled in. If their 4 track EP ‘Should’ve Stayed In’ is anything to go by, then they have a bright future ahead of them. Blind Mick Joyce, Darragh O’Brien, John Martin Tierney, Calum Goodway and Martin Collins ready for world domination.

The four tracks – ‘Four Karapackie’, ‘Craic Train’, ‘Snuffhead’ and ‘Trigger Of Love’ career from the Iron Maiden’s Paul Di’Anno growl and thunderous backline on track #1 to the Rolling Stones infused ‘Craic Train’ (a real festival crowd-pleaser) to mashed up Stone Roses / Judas Priest ‘Snuffhead’ and finished off with the trippy ‘Trigger of Love’.

The band have the chops, and the nous to deliver an EP that covers a staggering amount of influences – dig deeper, there’s Guns ‘N Roses, Scorpions, early Iron Maiden and yet can turn everything on its head.

If they take this further, there’s real potential here – Dead Horse Jive could be the next Thin Lizzy.

Editor’s Note:

Having spent the evening of June 21st., the Summer Solstice, with the lads on their two Dublin gigs I can confirm that everything Robert says is…. True ! A most original band with seriously original songs and stories, influences to be heard of course but wait until you hear the lyrics, the delivery, the fun, experience the total immersion in the roller coaster of a Dead Horse Jive gig, could be life changing….

Dead Horse jive available on Itunes, spotify and all those other cool places. Hard copy CDs available at gigs.
